Locating Trade at America's Land Ports

Over 13.5 trillion dollars worth of goods legally crossed the northern and southern borders of the United States by truck or train in 2015. Pharmaceutical products comprised approximately 126.7 billion dollars of total trade-value that year, as recorded by the US Department of Transportation.

This visualization describes the transborder movement of pharmaceutical commodities, classified and documented by the United States, through individual land ports, in dollar value. On the map to the left, the total value of goods moved through an individual border ported is represented by size. The percentage of that value made up by pharmaceutical trade is described by opacity.
